Gottman’s 4 Horsemen Test – Is Your Relationship in Danger?

Dr John Gottman, after 40 years of research, identified 4 behaviors that predict the end of a relationship with an accuracy of 93%: criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling (wall of silence). He called them the ‘4 horsemen of the Apocalypse’.

This 20-question test measures the presence of each rider in your relationship and calculates a relationship prognosis. Designed by a CBT psychopractitioner and based on the work of the Gottman Institute, it helps you identify destructive dynamics before it is too late.

What does this test measure?

  • Review – Difference between constructive criticism and personal attack: ‘You never do anything’ vs ‘I’need help’.
  • Contempt – Sarcasm, mockery, eye rolling, feeling of superiority. The most destructive of the 4 horsemen.
  • Defensiveness – Refusal to accept any responsibility, victimization, systematic counter-attack.
  • Stonewalling – Wall of silence, emotional withdrawal, refusal to communicate, total closure.
