Question 1

What is the "Historical Personalities" collection?

Accepted Answer

The Historical Personalities collection gathers psychological portraits of major figures (Mozart, Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Camus, Freud, Jung, Beauvoir, etc.) analyzed through the lens of modern clinical psychology: early maladaptive schemas (Young), attachment style (Bowlby), CBT traits, trauma and resilience. Each portrait crosses validated biographical data with a cautious psychopathological reading, written by Gildas Garrec, a certified CBT practitioner.

Question 2

How are the studied personalities selected?

Accepted Answer

Personalities are selected for the quality and richness of their biographical sources (diaries, correspondence, reference biographies), their lasting cultural impact, and the diversity of clinical issues represented: melancholic depression, early trauma, emotional dependency, addictions, bipolar disorders, high potential. The collection covers all disciplines (music, painting, literature, philosophy, science, politics) and all eras, without aiming at exhaustiveness.

Question 3

Are these portraits official psychiatric diagnoses?

Accepted Answer

No. No portrait constitutes a diagnosis in the medical sense. They are exploratory clinical readings based on public biographical documents that cross reported manifestations with contemporary psychological categories (DSM-5, Young's schemas, attachment). The project aims at rigorous popularization: helping readers understand clinical concepts through well-known figures, never labeling the historical person.

Question 4

Who are these psychological portraits for?

Accepted Answer

For readers curious about history, psychology or art who want to understand the psychic mechanisms that shaped great works. For psychology students who will find documented, well-illustrated case studies. For professionals (therapists, trainers, journalists) looking for concrete examples to illustrate a clinical concept. Portraits remain accessible to non-specialists: technical terms are explained, sources are cited, and short biographies introduce each figure.
