Tammy Hembrow's Dating History: A Timeline of Three Relationships

In the article that follows, I look at how relationship patterns can repeat, and end, across several partners over time. If you'd rather start with a relationship you're in right now, ScanMyLove looks at the conversations you're already having with a partner for the same kind of pattern; and if you recognise yourself in this broader theme, I designed a relationship patterns test that helps you locate the entry point of your own cycle. I also wrote a book on this subject, Understanding Your Attachment Style, if you would like to go further.

Tammy Hembrow built her public profile as a fitness entrepreneur and Instagram creator, with an audience in the tens of millions and businesses — Saski Collection, TammyFit — that now reach well beyond Australia. Alongside that career, her relationship history has been followed almost as closely, largely because she has chosen to announce its major turns herself, on the same platforms that built her audience. Over roughly fourteen years, three relationships — with Reece Hawkins, Matt Poole, and Matthew Zukowski — have each been documented from their public beginning to their public end. This timeline lays out what has actually been confirmed, in order, using the couple's own public statements and reporting from established outlets, not speculation.

Reece Hawkins: the first public relationship (2011/2013–2018)

Hembrow's relationship with fitness trainer Reece Hawkins is the earliest of her three major, publicly documented partnerships. Reports on the exact start date vary — some describe a four-year relationship, others a five-year one — but the couple's time together spanned much of her early twenties and included two children, a son, Wolf, and a daughter, Saskia. The couple were also reported to have been engaged during this period, before the relationship ultimately ended.

The relationship ended in 2018. Hembrow confirmed the split herself in a YouTube video posted on 8 June 2018, rather than through a third party or a leaked report — a pattern of self-disclosure that would repeat in her later relationships. As I explore in my book Surviving the Breakup: From Heartbreak to Renewal, choosing how an ending gets told. Reece Hawkins has remained a recurring reference point in coverage of Hembrow's life since, largely in his role as Wolf and Saskia's father rather than as a subject of ongoing romantic reporting.

Matt Poole: engagement and a third child (2020–2022)

Hembrow's next major public relationship began in September 2020, with athlete Matt Poole. The couple became engaged a little over a year into the relationship, and their daughter, Posy, was born in June 2022. The relationship ended around three months after Posy's birth, in September 2022. As with the Hawkins relationship, this timeline — from public relationship, to engagement, to child, to separation — was confirmed through statements and posts from those involved, rather than through outside speculation.

Matthew Zukowski: engagement, marriage, and a divorce announced twice (2023–2025)

Hembrow's most recent major relationship, with fellow creator Matthew Zukowski, followed a faster and more publicly documented arc than the previous two. The pair met in mid-2023 and made their first public appearance as a couple in September of that year. Zukowski proposed in December 2023, during a trip to the Maldives, and the couple married on 23 November 2024 at Château Du Soleil in Byron Bay, in a wedding that was widely covered by Australian entertainment media.

The marriage ended within seven months. On 21 June 2025, Hembrow posted a TikTok video announcing the split directly: "I wanted to finally tell you guys that I am going to be getting a divorce." Zukowski confirmed the news the following day on his own Instagram Stories: "It's with a heavy heart I share that Tammy and I have decided to separate." Zukowski later said, during an appearance on the reality show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!", that the couple's actual time living together had been closer to three months than the seven implied by the length of the marriage. Hembrow described the aftermath, in comments picked up by Marie Claire Australia, as a period of needing to "get it all out."

Three children, three fathers: the facts

Across these three relationships, Hembrow has had three children — Wolf and Saskia with Reece Hawkins, and Posy with Matt Poole — each birth publicly documented at the time and tied to the relationship that was active when the child was born. This is a matter of public record, confirmed by Hembrow and her former partners themselves, and it is presented here only as a chronological fact: each child's father corresponds to the partner Hembrow was with at that point in her life. It says nothing, on its own, about her as a parent or a partner, and none of the reporting cited in this piece draws that conclusion either. This is exactly what I explore in Our Archaic Wounds, how the same patterns recur.

The Bailey Smith rumor: denied by both sides

In June 2025, days after the Zukowski split was announced, Hembrow was seen with AFL player Bailey Smith on the Gold Coast, prompting speculation about a new relationship. That speculation did not hold up: Smith publicly described Hembrow as a "mate" and said he was single, and by late September 2025 both had separately confirmed they were not a couple — Hembrow's comments came in the context of a Tinder partnership announcement around the same time. Unlike the three relationships above, the Bailey Smith story never became a confirmed relationship; it is documented here as a rumor that both parties addressed and closed, not as a fourth chapter in her dating history.

Public breakups as public content

Hembrow's pattern of announcing her own breakups — first with Hawkins in 2018, then with Zukowski in 2025 — reflects a broader shift in how public breakups now unfold for creators with large audiences. Where a separation was once reported after the fact by outside media, it is increasingly announced directly by the people involved, on the same channels used for everyday content. That shift changes very little about the underlying facts of a relationship ending, but it does mean the announcement itself becomes a piece of content, read and reshared within hours, often before traditional outlets have had time to confirm it independently. Zukowski's Instagram Stories post arriving one day after Hembrow's TikTok video is a small illustration of that pattern: two separate, first-person statements, rather than a single joint one.

A Psychological Perspective: Repetition and the Relational Script

Three relationships that each move through a similar sequence — a public relationship, a marker of commitment, a child, and a self-announced ending — describe a pattern sometimes called a relational script: a recurring way of entering, building, and closing a relationship that a person can repeat across different partners, often without consciously naming it as a pattern at all. A repeating sequence like this is not, on its own, evidence about any one person's inner life. It is a documented feature of how relationships can unfold in general, whether or not the people involved are public figures, and it describes the shape a relationship takes rather than anything about why it took that shape for Tammy Hembrow specifically.

Who has Tammy Hembrow dated?

Hembrow's three publicly confirmed major relationships are with Reece Hawkins (around 2011/2013 to 2018), Matt Poole (2020 to 2022), and Matthew Zukowski (2023 to 2025, including a 2024 marriage).

Why did Tammy Hembrow and Matt Zukowski divorce?

Neither Hembrow nor Zukowski has given a detailed public explanation of the reasons for their split. Both confirmed the separation in June 2025, seven months after their wedding, through their own social media posts, and Zukowski later noted on television that the couple had lived together for only around three months.

Is Tammy Hembrow in a relationship with Bailey Smith?

No. The two were seen together on the Gold Coast in June 2025, but Bailey Smith publicly described the relationship as a friendship, and both he and Hembrow confirmed separately, by late September 2025, that they were single.
In brief: Tammy Hembrow's dating history spans three publicly documented relationships over roughly fourteen years — with Reece Hawkins, Matt Poole, and Matthew Zukowski — each producing a child and each ending with a public statement from the people involved rather than outside reporting. The most recent, her marriage to Zukowski, ended within seven months: Hembrow announced the split on TikTok on 21 June 2025, and Zukowski confirmed it on his own Instagram Stories the following day. A later rumor linking her to AFL player Bailey Smith was addressed and denied by both parties by late September 2025. Coverage of this timeline has continued across major Australian outlets years after the earliest of these relationships ended.
