In brief: This screening test assesses the intensity of depressive symptoms over the past two weeks across 4 categories: mood (sadness, discouragement), anhedonia (loss of interest and pleasure), cognitive symptoms (self-devaluation, guilt, concentration), and somatic symptoms (sleep, appetite, energy). It is inspired by reference clinical criteria (e.g., PHQ-9). This is a SCREENING tool, NOT a diagnostic one: only a healthcare professional can diagnose depression. Feeling down is normal and transient. The 4 Dimensions Assessed
Depressed mood: sadness, discouragement, hopelessness. Anhedonia: loss of interest and pleasure. Cognitive symptoms: self-devaluation, guilt, difficulty concentrating and making decisions. Somatic symptoms: sleep and appetite disturbances, fatigue, psychomotor slowing.
